Leading on user engagement and establishing a user panel for a medical device startup to run early feasibility studies with a working prototype version of the device: a smart garment housing multiple accelerometers and microphones.
Discovered that data quality was reliant on the person reclining or lying horizontally, requiring the business to rethink how the device would be used and to develop AI algorithms to filter out poor quality data.
This user centred approach ensured the business developed an effective device which recently completed its first clinical trial with 200 patients, successfully collecting sufficient data for the next phase of AI development.
