Taking a University spin-out from basic working prototype to premium-grade finished product

DMist's ClearVue solution is a unique technology for the real-time enhancement of video taken under adverse conditions. A spin-out from Manchester University, it uses a patented process to restore fogged imagery taken in cloudy, smoky or hazy conditions to its original sharpness, with applications in airport runways, ports, motorway CCTV and outside broadcast.

We translated their "cheap and cheerful" working prototype, which used an off-the-shelf electronics enclosure, into a preimium-grade, bespoke housing conveying the value of the advanced technology within. In their words, they wanted it to look like an expensive piece of hi-fi equipment!

Our scope of work included design of the housing and product brand, a thorough "design for manufacture" review, help with their supply chain, and creation of CAD files and drawings to enable low-volume production. Our work helped them win significant orders and launch the business commercially.
